Stunning garnet and seed pearl earrings in classic style, made in the shape of amphoras, presumably filled with wine given the colour.
From the early Victorian era, modelled in gold with burgundy red rose cut garnets and bright seed pearls in closed back settings. These earrings are so very festive and beautiful, gorgeous red glow, white pearlescent sheen and glistening yellow gold. A soft movement as you move your head. Gorgeous details to the gold work.
On the back of the earrings you can see that they have once been reworked, when I found them they had been turned around and had screw back fittings, but we turned them back and added new gold wires.
Length 5,2 cm long, 2.2 cm at the widest point. Each earring is set with 20 garnets and 11 seed pearls. The largest garnet is a little over 5 mm long. Total weight 10 grams
General condition excellent, wear to the gems in keeping with age and use. Additions to the back made when the earrings were turned around long ago, to reinforce the earrings, this was made in gold coloured metal. The earrings are made from 14 carat gold, the wire hooks in 18 carat.
