This rather fantastic Austrian treasure from the Roaring Twenties is a chandelier-shaped pendant that is quite as decadent as the era it hails from. Modeled in 14-carat yellow gold and silver with millegrain borders, it boasts approximately 5.50 ctw of old-cut diamonds with H-K colour and VS-SI clarity, as well as rose-cut diamond accents; and finally, 7 round, faceted rubies, likely Burmese, 2.5 ctw.
This exquisite pendant is skillfully made, with several articulated details that make it rest beautifully on the chest if worn on a short chain. It also gives the large jewel a wonderful movement, especially if worn further down on a longer chain. The different parts move softly and makes the diamonds dance and sparkle.
Hallmarked for Vienna, ca 1920s. Maker’s mark J-M. Measures 9 cm long, with a weight of 14.4 grams.
General condition is excellent, with some of the small, rose-cut diamonds having wear and chipping, but all are secure in their settings.
